XREAL Launches $300 AR Glasses to Make Spatial Displays Accessible to Everyone

XREAL has launched its most affordable AR glasses to date, bringing its display technology to a wider audience with the xbx a01+ — now available in the US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia, Japan and South Korea at $300.

The glasses are the first product from xbx, a new sub-brand XREAL has created to sit below its premium One and One Pro lineup. Where those devices target spatial computing enthusiasts and professionals, xbx is aimed squarely at commuters, gamers and movie-lovers who want a big-screen experience without a big-screen price.

What you get for $300

Despite the lower price point, the a01+ packs a genuinely impressive set of specifications. The glasses feature Sony micro-OLED displays with a 50-degree field of view, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10 support, and peak brightness of 1,600 nits — the equivalent of a 147-inch screen at four metres. At just 62 grams, they are also among the lightest AR display glasses currently available.

XREAL has also included a spatial anti-shake algorithm designed to keep video stable during movement — particularly useful for commuters watching content on trains, planes or the subway. Three interchangeable front frame designs add a degree of personalisation, and the company notes that tinkerers can even 3D print their own custom frames.

The trade-offs

To hit the $300 price, XREAL has made some cuts compared to its premium lineup. The xbx a01+ has no cameras, no electrochromic dimming, and no Bose audio integration — features found on the more expensive XREAL One series. It is also not a standalone device; like all XREAL glasses, the a01+ requires a tethered connection via USB-C DisplayPort to a phone, laptop or handheld gaming device.

These are reasonable compromises for the target audience. Someone who primarily wants to watch films on a long-haul flight or play Steam Deck games on a larger virtual screen has little need for cameras or spatial tracking.

A crowded but growing market

The xbx a01+ arrives into a budget AR display market that has been heating up throughout 2026. Its main rival at this price point is the RayNeo Air 4 Pro, which helped establish the sub-$350 HDR10 AR category earlier this year. XREAL is betting that its brighter display and anti-shake technology give it a meaningful edge.

The launch also offers a glimpse of where the AR glasses market is heading more broadly — towards a tiered model similar to the smartphone industry, where entry-level devices bring in new users while premium lines push the technology forward. If XREAL can make the xbx range a success, it could introduce a significant new wave of consumers to augmented reality for the first time.

The xbx a01+ is available now at xreal.com, Amazon, Best Buy, B&H and Micro Center in the US, and through XREAL’s partner retailers internationally.
